Flipper is like a stripped-down, single-threaded version of stunnel that works in both client and server mode (in the same process). It's already replaced stunnel for me (imap server and client) and as an nntp client proxy. Flipper still lacks tests, but the code is relatively straightforward and easy to test/break...
