Hi,

I'm a webdesigner working with a developer on a group project. I am under
the impression that kgio is 1) not needed for the "bundle exec padrino start
command" and 2) not for windows, just for *nix as per a forum
post. however, whenever I run "bundle exec padrino start" it says kgio not
found in any of the sources.

Also, in bundle install kgio is not able to be installed. I get ERROR: Error
installing kgio: ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

Could you please advise how to work around both issues?

Thank you,
Kelsey

I have no idea what Padrino requires of kgio, maybe it uses Unicorn (or
Rainbows!)? If you're just developing and not serving large amounts of
traffic, stick with WEBrick which runs with Ruby and you shouldn't need
kgio.

Is there a gem_make.out file in your gems directory telling you what
the failure is? Also try just running "gem install kgio"

What OS are you using? I can't help with non-Free OSes, but there
are some posts in the kgio list archives for various Unix-like OSes
that aren't officially supported:
